Not many local movie palaces reopen after decades in the dark. But on November 1, 2006, years of local efforts paid off, and the curtain rose again at Rialto Cinemas Cerrito.

Come celebrate the twentieth anniversary of the Rialto’s rebirth! Learn about how the cinema was saved, restored and rebuilt. The society will also screen an inspiring new documentary, “The Last Pictures Shows,” by Rustin Thompson, about cinephiles preserving theaters throughout the West.
